Phil McDarby’s Fantasy Digital Art.

I found the above picture recently and was in awe. At first I thought it was picture, but upon closer inspection I was able to spot the magic.

He takes a beautiful scenery photograph then using Photoshop and other programs he creates his masterpieces.

Below: my favorite of his works!

I recommend you visit HIS SITE where he has closeups of his more recent art. You really get to appreciate the detail of it all.

Forest Reading

Another kids coloring page I drew. It took me about an hour and a half to finish it. This time I decided t o video myself drawing it so I have something to put up on my youtube account which has been quite dead recently.

Anyways here is the video and the picture. Stay tuned for more of my art…which will come soon I hope.

Check out my other sketches here and here!

Fantasy Book Cover

I recently submitted my art to a contest for a book cover. I posted my sketch up before here

Anyway this was the end product. It was a fun contest and it got me sketching and drawing a bit more again.

Cartoon Characters in Real Life

I know these pictures are old and I’m sure most people have already seen it, but when I looked over them again I just couldn’t help but admire them. So I wanted every one who has seen it to appreciate once more. And if you haven’t seen it you can really appreciate these fine works of art.

Homer Simpson

Stewie Griffin

Super Mario

Jessica Rabbit

App button contest on 99designs

I submitted a design for a app button contest in 99designs. It was for a photo editing program app for iphone and ipad. You use your finger to “paint” across the photo and you can change its color, saturation etc.

I eventually got eliminated…(sniff)…but I got three stars out of five and good experience. Experience is always something good to have. There are so many great designers in 99designs that you feel you really are competing against the best. But if you want to be the best you have to compete against the best.

It was really fun. I can’t wait to do more.

Here are the designs I submitted.

MEGAN FOX – speedpainting by Nico Di Mattia

There are just some things you find online that look like a photo and then you find out somebody drew it! And you’re like “NO WAY”! Then you find a video on youtube of them drawing it and you say, “…”! No words.

Check out his works.

I aspire to be like him.

Girl on a Swing. Youtube Video

Created in Photoshop. It took 4 hours to make this. I sped it up to 4 min for your viewing pleasure.

Here is the completed work.

This is the sketch for the idea.

Lonely Planet!

Concept: Okay so I started with this idea of a lonely planet where two people are on the opposite sides waiting to find someone to love. And they are both sitting there sadly thinking they are all alone in this planet when actually there is someone waiting for them too. Everyone has probably felt like this sometime in their lives. I know I have. I am now married to the most wonderful person in the world, but it did feel like forever till I found her. For those who are still waiting I say, hold on it will come and it won’t take forever. And when it happens you will only remember that faze as a bad dream.

So first I designed the planet and space for my two people. This was created in photoshop and took roughly 3 hours to finish.

Then I thought that instead of people I should create something cuter to go with cartoonish planet I created. So I went with bunnies. The boy is holding a flower representing him wanting someone to dote upon and care for. The girl is holding a heart waiting for some one to share it with. This part took roughly 5 hours to create.

Next just had to put the two elements together. And there they are waiting and hopping for the day they will find each other. Touchups etc. took about half an hour.

So this was a 8 and a half hour project. Nice! Right!?
